Get a glimpse of Southern Africa and Madagascar all without leaving St. Louis with Missouri Botanical Garden’s Desert Show: Plants of Southern Africa and Madagascar.
This exhibit highlights the rarely seen flora of the arid regions of South Africa and Madagascar and gives a look at the people of the region and how they utilize indigenous plant species.
Visitors can enjoy the diverse beauty of these fascinating ecosystems as well as learn about the work being done to preserve these habitats.
The Desert Show is open 9 am to 5 pm daily June 28 – July 27. Tickets are $5 in addition to regular garden admission, which runs $4 to $8.

Plants from the gardens of West County Daylily Club members will be available for sale to the public Saturday, July 19th from 9 am to 5 pm only
Single flowers, spiders, unusual forms, and doubles will be represented at the sale. Photos and plant descriptions will be provided to help visitors make plant choices
Growers will also be available to share plant care advice and information about their organization

In celebration of the 45th anniversary of the Apollo Moon Landing, Alton Museum of History and Art is showcasing some very special photographs for a limited time only!
For just 2 weeks, 2 5-foot by 35-inch photographic negatives of the mission’s landing site and equipment will be on display in the Grace Monroe classroom at Loomis Hall.
Exhibit closes July 31st. The museum is open Wednesday – Saturday 10 am – 4 pm and Sunday 1 pm – 4 pm.

Experience a taste of Belgian food culture with the Belgian Beer & Musselfest July 18th and 19th.
Sample fresh cold-water mussels served in classic styles and paired with intricate Belgian ales. The festival will feature mussels from Penn Cove, WA, along with Belgian Witbier, Belgian Golden Ale, and Schlafly Conditioned Belgian Series. There will also be Belgian waffles and live music.

Olive Oil Marketplace is celebrating its 2nd anniversary with a series of FREE demonstrations all month long!
Join the Marketplace Saturday, July 19th at 11 am and 3 pm for a grilling/BBQ demo. Participants will learn new grilling techniques to enhance their dishes.

The purpose of this year’s exhibit “Elsah: A Gem in our Midst” is to celebrate and cultivate an appreciation for the unique beauty found in the quaint village of Elsah, Illinois.

The Refinery Project: Images of Beauty and Industry is a series of industrial photographs taken at the Phillips 66 Wood River Refinery by Tom Atwood.
The exhibit explores different perceptions of beauty, featuring posed models in a contrasting industrial landscape. While many don’t like refineries – for whatever reasons – Atwood has created an undeniable artistry in this series.
This exhibit is definitely worth checking out! Come see the new and beautiful twist Atwood has given the refinery!
