Mapping St. Louis History
May 23 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Take a walk through St. Louis history and view historic maps, rare books, and images commemorating the city’s 250th birthday.

Mercantile Library is located on the 2 lower levels of Thomas Jefferson Library (you will walk in on the 3rd floor). Exhibitions can be viewed during normal Thomas Jefferson Library hours. Enjoy the exhibition by yourself or take a free, docent-led tour Saturdays at 11 or Sundays at 2. Group tours can also be arranged. Grafton Riverside Flea Market

The most fabulous flea market on the river, Grafton Riverside Flea Market features over 50 vendors selling all types of items, including antiques, foods, tools, candles, furniture, and hand-crafted goods.

Join the fun the 4th weekend of each month March – October from 9-5 each day at the Loading Dock in historic Grafton, Illinois:

– June 27th and 28th

Annual Elsah Photography Exhibit
May 23 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Amateur and professional photographers come together to present this annual exhibit, displaying photographs of the Village of Elsah and immediate areas in all seasons.

The purpose of this year’s exhibit “Elsah: A Hidden Surprise” is to celebrate and cultivate an appreciation for the unique beauty found in the quaint village of Elsah, Illinois in every season.

Hakuna Matata River Rambler Cruise
May 23 @ 4:00 pm – 4:45 pm

Cruise the Mighty Mississippi, learn its history, and take in the beautiful scenery on the Hakuna Matata River Rambler Cruise, departing Grafton Harbor promptly at 4 pm.

The Hakuna Matata is a 49-passenger all-weather tour boat. The first level is fully enclosed with large windows and is seasonally heated and cooled. The upper deck is a huge open air patio offering a stunning 360-degree view of the river and surrounding areas. Restrooms, a cash bar, light snacks, and souvenirs are also available.

Lantern Festival: Magic Reimagined

An international exhibition, Lantern Festival: Magic Reimagined consists of 22 lighted works of art from Zigong, China. The sets, crafted from silk, steel, wire, and porcelain, offer visitors something rarely seen outside of Asia.

Each piece is unique and includes an interpretation of the design’s tradition, symbolism, and meaning. Don’t miss your chance to see this one-of-a-kind exhibit!

Opera Theatre of St. Louis: The Barber of Seville (Gioachino Rossini, 1816)

Rossini’s dazzling score sets the gold standard for opera; The Barber of Seville is fresh, elegant, funny, and packed with “vocal fireworks”!

Watch as young barber Figaro helps Count Almaviva steal the beautiful Rosina away right under the nose of her greedy guardian.

St. Louis’s own Ryan McAdams (The Pirates of Penzance) conducts and Michael Shell (Cosí fan tutte) directs this fabulous company starring Daniela Mack (Il re pastore) and Dale Travis (Daughter of the Regiment).
