“Love Letters” @ Jacoby Arts Center

This touching romance is a theatre piece unlike any you’ve seen before. A.R. Gurney’s unique play consists of love letters between childhood friends Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner spanning 50 years. Learn their hopes and ambitions and hear their love for each other as Bankside Repertory Theatre Company takes the stage at Jacoby Arts Center February 5th, 6th, 12th, and 13th.

Live Bald Eagles @ TreeHouse Wildlife Center

See a live bald eagle up close and personal each weekend in January and February at TreeHouse Wildlife Center. Visitors will have the chance to ask questions and learn about the species and their habitats.

Underground Railroad Shuttle Tour @ Alton Visitors Center
Feb 13 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Step back in time as J. E. Robinson Tours and the Alton Regional CVB guide you to local sites filled with a rich history.

The two-hour guided shuttle will stop at some of the sites that were once a part of the Underground Railroad, including Alton Museum of History and Art, Rocky Fork area, and more. Learn how Alton’s location along the Mighty Mississippi played a vital role in helping slaves reach freedom.

Remnants of history remain, buried beneath the streets of Alton. Come discover history for yourself.

Masters of the Sky @ National Great Rivers Museum
Feb 13 @ 11:00 am – 3:00 pm

See eagles, falcons, owls, and other birds of prey at the National Great Rivers Museum as part of this fun and educational program. Showtimes are 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm.

In addition, there is a free eagle display in the gallery at noon and 2 pm. Afterwards, venture out along the Great River Road and spot some eagles in their natural habitats. Don’t forget binoculars and a camera!

Maple Tapping with LaVista CSA Farm @ Entrance to Oblates

Hike through the maple trees and learn how to tap and collect the sweet water with everyday items and how to boil the water off. And after, participants will have the opportunity to sample the freshly-tapped syrup.
