Mapping St. Louis History

Take a walk through St. Louis history and view historic maps, rare books, and images commemorating the city’s 250th birthday.

Mercantile Library is located on the 2 lower levels of Thomas Jefferson Library (you will walk in on the 3rd floor). Exhibitions can be viewed during normal Thomas Jefferson Library hours. Enjoy the exhibition by yourself or take a free, docent-led tour Saturdays at 11 or Sundays at 2. Group tours can also be arranged. Live Bald Eagles at Treehouse Wildlife Center
Feb 28 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

See a live bald eagle up close and personal each weekend in January and February at Treehouse Wildlife Center. Visitors will have the chance to ask questions and learn about the species and their habitats.

Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. For more information, please call (618) 466-2990.

St. Louis Builders Home and Garden Show

Produced by the Home Builders Association of St. Louis and Eastern Missouri, the St. Louis Builders Home and Garden Show, is one of the largest quality consumer home shows in all of North America. The St. Louis Builders Home and Garden Show is the place for consumers to see, touch, compare, and buy everything they need to create the home, yard, or garden of their dreams.

This must-see event will feature approximately 500 exhibitors in 1,800 booths, comprising 6 different showcase areas: Lawn & Garden, Kitchen & Bath, Pool & Spa, GeoComfort Green Products, Interior Design, and Building Products.

The show is open from 10 am to 9 pm Thursday (26) through Saturday (28) and from 10 am to 5 pm Sunday (1). Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for children (6-12). For more information, please visit stlhomeshow.com.

JAC: Route 66 and Beyond

Full of engaging, unexpected effects, the images of “Route 66 and Beyond” underscore artist Mark Fisher’s fascination with the unique possibilities of alternative approaches to photography. His enticing images of “common subjects, uncommonly photographed” have been captivating viewers across America.

The nostalgic scenes of the Route 66 images on view at Jacoby are hand colored photos taken with infrared film. The exhibit also includes his striking series of digital color portraits picturing carnival chalkware figures.

This unique exhibit is one you won’t want to miss!

Underground Railroad Shuttle Tour (1 PM)
Feb 28 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Step back in time as J. E. Robinson Tours and the Alton Regional CVB guide you to local sites filled with a rich history.

The two-hour guided shuttle will stop at some of the sites that were once a part of the Underground Railroad, including Alton Museum of History and Art, Rocky Fork area, and more. Learn how Alton’s location along the Mighty Mississippi played a vital role in helping slaves reach freedom.

Remnants of history remain, buried beneath the streets of Alton. Come discover history for yourself.

7th Annual Centennial Beer Festival
Feb 28 @ 2:00 pm – Feb 28 @ 9:00 pm

Sample beers from 86 breweries across the St. Louis metro area, the nation, and even the world at the 7th annual Centennial Beer Festival! Breweries featured include Schlafly, Samuel Adams, Anheuser-Busch, among many others.

Tastings run 6-9 Friday and 2-5 and 6-9 Saturday. Add the VIP experience (Saturday only) for an additional $20, plus tax.

Dinner with Mr. Lincoln’s Friends

Dogs of Society: A Tribute to Elton John

Triple Jam Productions presents Dogs of Society (a tribute to Elton John) with special guests Lanny and Julie Saturday, February 28th as part of the Coors Light Music Fest Concert Series.

Boasting spot-on vocals and accomplished musicians, Dogs of Society is “the ultimate Elton rock tribute”. The band pays tribute to ’70s-and-beyond Elton John with an exciting, energetic rock concert for all ages!

Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at Alton Wood River Sportsmen’s Club. No refunds or exchanges. There will be free on-site parking.
