The Alton Museum of History and Art is located in Loomis Hall on the dental school school campus. Built in 1832, it is the oldest building in Illinois continuously dedicated to education.

The Alton Museum includes displays about Robert Wadlow (the Alton Giant who holds the record as the world's tallest man at 8 feet 11 inches), Lewis & Clark, the Alton Confederate Prison, the Lincoln and Sheilds Duel, and more.
